YOUNG SCHOLARS / Leadership Development & Responsibility...
YOUNG SCHOLARS (YS) is a community-based academic enrichment program that fosters confidence and leadership skills for youth. YS helps youth tap into their natural brilliance by implementing a culturally relevant approach that helps youth navigate their interests and challenges them to move with full confidence when exploring their academic endeavors.
C.H.A.N.G.E. / Civic Engagement & Respect...
C.H.A.N.G.E. (C) helps youth learn about civic engagement. The Knights and Queens learn about the role and structure of their local government and become well versed in community policies. The students participate in community service and community building activities. The students gain integral knowledge regarding the structure of local government and the bureaucratic systems that will impact their lives. They are tasked with problem solving and developing real world solutions as agents of social change.
PROJECT REWIRE / Entrepreneurship & Career Readiness...
PROJECT REWIRE (PR) initiative was established by three nonprofit organizations (College Factory, Dunta Robinson Foundation, Chess & Community). Project Rewire empowers youth by rewiring the way they see themselves and their future opportunities. Project Rewire teaches youth the basics of entrepreneurship and rewards dedicated students with seed money to start their businesses. Project Rewire takes a holistic approach to developing youth by exposing them to career opportunities in their communities. The program uses innovative, culturally relevant, and relatable methods to meet students at their level of development. Project Rewire is dedicated to working with youth beginning in middle school through their post-secondary education.
COLLECTIVE HANDS / Service & Identity...
COLLECTIVE HANDS (CH) gives youth a lifetime experience by exposing them to other cultures and new experiences. We make an annual visit to Washington D.C to explore our Nation's Capital. The students acquire history, science, and social science knowledge. CH also exposes students to different cultures, foods, and customs. Students have the opportunity to travel abroad where they use the tools gained throughout their studies.
