THINK BEFORE YOU MOVE
Every year, the Think Before You Move Scholarship recognizes four outstanding high school students in the Athens-Clarke County area. A $1000 scholarship is awarded to students who demonstrate exceptional persuasive writing skills, while meeting academic and community service requirements. Each year, winners present their winning essay at the conference. The Think Before You Move Scholarship encourages writing and public speaking while challenging youth to explore important topics such as education reform and community awareness.
Four Clarke County High School Juniors/Seniors will describe what the power of family means to them. Essay question below.
ScHOLARLSHIP ESSAY PROMPT
In 1,200 words or less (600 words minimum), describe how your experiences with and through your family have contributed and influenced your sense of community (local, state, nation, and/or global). Your essay should (1) define and describe what it means to you to be a part of a family, (2) identify ways that a family can help to build and strengthen communities in need, (3) describe the type of families that build strong communities, and (4) describe how you will contribute to building a family and a community that will promote community healing, wellness, compassion, and empowerment through your continued education and career.
