CHESS-A-THON

The Classic City Chess-A-Thon is a free, family-friendly community event that transforms Downtown Athens into a giant chessboard, bringing together players from across Georgia for a day of chess, connection, and community celebration. Hosted by Chess & Community, the event raises support to keep our free chess, robotics, coding, and debate programs available for youth while promoting critical thinking, leadership, and positive community engagement.
